OP - T02 (2022)
My second table design was inspired by Japanese architecture and the reoccurring use of slatted wooden walls and panels. The balance of positive and negative space these walls and panels achieve has always been visually intriguing to me.
In addition to the visuals of Japanese architecture, the precision and sturdiness of Japanese wood joinery has been a huge inspiration for much of my work. Using this to guide the connection methods of the table’s base, both half lap and mortise and tenon joints have been utilized, resulting in an extremely sturdy sub structure.
Designed with small spaces in mind, the singular base provides and easy “in and out” movement vs a traditional 4 legged table.
Shown here in natural American white oak, and blackened American white oak. Available in various wood types/finishes.
